Improve your memory with flashcards

In the above example, an English speaker practice your Spanish, or Spanish speakers practice their English.
When we are beginning to study a new language,
we have a hard task: memorizing the words and common phrases.
To solve this problem there are the flashcards,
which are nothing more that small pieces
of paper written front and back.
On one side there is the word/phrase you need to learn,
and on the other side it is written the same word/phrase in your own language.
Leave them in your pocket and occasionally
look at the sentences and
try to remember what they mean.
After this hint no one can blame the poor memory and say, "I forgot it."
Bye and God bless you!

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll

This is the first paragraph, first chapter:

ALICE was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank and of having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, "and what is the use of a book," thought Alice, "without pictures or conversations?'
